He created EXISTANCE and still knows the number of hairs on your head.
That still blows my mind.
But can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone was the same? Just clones of each other?
But if you degrade somebody like that, making yourself better, well isn't that like wishing everyone was like you? Like you're the standard?

But back to my point, everybody's the same.
Like what if you were in art class, and you made two sculptures that were absolutely beautiful in your eyes.
And then one of them started complaining about how ugly and messed up the other one looked.
Wouldn't that be offensive? And just plain hypocritical?
They're both sculptures, and uniquely made, so how is one better than the other?

If you're reading this and you're on the judged end of the see-saw, just know that you're a masterpiece.
And that price tag somebody puts on you? Doesn't matter.
You're priceless.

And yes, I'm not perfect either. I've done the judging. But that's something I have to work on too.
Again, nobody's perfect.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ecatherine.blogspot.com/2011/07/life-isnt-court-case-why-be-judge.html' title='Life Isn't a Court Case. I live in Texas.
I've felt it Literally (surprisingly), and figuratively.

I feel like the devil can be the "cold day" sometimes.
He puts situations in our lives that cause us to stray from what we know is right, or what we know God wants us to do, or even to get in the way of a healty relationship with God.
We are exposed and beaten down by the cold winds and chills, and it seems hopeless!

But then suddenly, you realize that there is a blanket available to you, complete with a warm fire, if you can make it over the next hill.

Can you move? The devil's taunting is reeling you in and it seems like the better option.

The decision seems obvious: Go get the blanket!
But you wouldn't believe the number of people that wouldn't do it.
They only see the more glamorous option that appeals more to what they want, and they stick to it like glue.

Personally, I'd rather have the comfort of the warm blanket, fire, and God's arms.
Would you?

~Em

We're Off to See the Wizard.

The Wizard of Ozsome.
'Nuff said.
Favorite movie of all time.
That's an overused phrase, but when it comes down to it, it's true for this movie.
I love the cheerfulness, the idea of hope, of home, of friendship, and of the songs.
And Judy Garland.
That girl can SING.
But above all, I love how iconic of a movie it is.
I mean, who HASN'T seen the Wizard of Oz?

I wish I could have been in the movie theater in 1939, watching The Wizard of Oz, and seeing people's reactions when they witnessed the transition from the black, white, and brown colors they were familiar with, to new bright, beautiful and BRILLIANT colors when Dorothy opened that door. As you can probably guess, the smoke goes up to hide the trap-door that takes her down. But what you probably didn't know, is that she got burned during the final take. It's supposed to go something like this: "1. Smoke goes up, 2. Trap door takes her down, 3. Explosion." But on the final take, part of her cloak got caught in the platform, causing it to delay the timing, resulting in a 2nd degree burn on her face, and 3rd degree on her hand.

*The cowardly lion's costume is actual lion fur. It weighed 90 pounds.

*Watch when the Wizard's doorman at Oz is crying. His tears come from his eyebrows.

*They went to a secondhand shop to buy Professsor Marvel a used-looking cloak, and they decided on the one you see in the film. But one day when filming, Frank Morgan pulled a tag out from one of the pockets, and it said that the cloak was originally made for L. Frank Baum, the Author of The Wizard of Oz!!

*The "twister" at the beginning of the movie is actually a huge stocking. You think I'm kidding.

There's more, but I want to get back to the movie.
<3

~Em

Childhood Memories.

VHS. Ahhhhh the good old days.
Remember having to either fast forward to the movie, or just watch the previews?
Or watching Disney classics and hearing, "And now, our feature presentation." <3
Or how about having to rewind the movie when you were done so that you didn't have to do it the next time?

Actually, I kind of prefer DVD.

But VHS definitely has sentimental value.

And did you ever play with Barbies?
Well duh.
How about Hotwheels?
I DID!!

But personally. my favorite thing about childhood, is the simplicity.
Did we have drama back then?
 -"My crayon broke!"
How about relationship problems?
 -"Eww, he has cooties..."

No.
There was no worry,
no stress,
no trying to fit in,
no pleasing others,
no drama,
no anger,
no hate-
ONLY LOVE.

How did we do it? How did we love so unconditionally?

That's why I'm making it my personal mission to be that way towards everyone.
To just love. Not trying to be their friend, but to just listen to them.
Do you know how many people are out there, that just need someone to talk to?
Maybe they don't have many friends, or maybe they feel completely alone. Yes, you're the first to know.
:)
So here's my four cents.

Teenage relationships are funny.
People tend to find the first single and attractive person they find, and "like" them. What does that even mean?
I "like" my best friend. I "like" my dog. I "like" spaghetti. I mean really? Shouldn't love be deeper than spaghetti?

I see relationships that literally, every other word out of their mouth is "I love you".
You think I'm kidding.
While it's sweet, and sometimes one of the simplest ways to show how you feel, it's a bit overused. Especially when you've only met the person recently, decided they were cute, and what do you know? You're in love with them.
Personally, I don't want to waste my time on someone who isn't going to be my husband, you know? I mean, if I decided to go out with them after I just met them, the chances of our marriage are like 2 in a million. Why waste emotion on that person? Like, what's the POINT?

Maybe you're that 2 in a million. Lucky duck! It's definitely possible.
But my point is that I'm seriously worried about the teenage population if love is measured by how many times you say "I love you". They're just words. Or how many times you have sex. That's just childish.

Or how about just good old fashion getting to know the person? What would happen if all relationships started out as best friendships? From my perspective, THOSE are the ones that thrive.

Girls: Don't fall for a guy just because he says you're pretty or flirts a lot. Who knows, maybe he says that to every girl? Get to really know him as just a friend. And if God wants it to be, it WILL. But not every guy you meet will be Prince Charming. I sure wish someone had told me that.

Guys: Don't be dumb. Girls are easily led on. Don't create broken hearts, mend them. Be the guy who cares deeply for a girl, not romantically, but like you would your own best friend. They like that, I promise. And who knows what might come out of it?

I don't know. Call me wrong if you like. It doesn't bother me at all.
It's just my opinion...
